A friend of mine once told me I look like a wildling from game of thrones. I've been trying to take it as a compliment.

I'm really good at carrying lots of groceries at one time and arranging luggage in a car to maximize the amount of stuff I can take on a trip. In the last year, I have fixed a toilet, built a fence, reset my garbage disposal, and chased a bat out of my house (though I hate bats). I have a dog who is pretty awesome.

I'm a very laid back person. I love skiing, surfing, hiking and biking. I have worked for years as a reporter and then a writer for a financial company. I'm currently going back to school to get a degree in nursing, with hopes of becoming a nurse practitioner as my second career.

I have two wonderful daughters. My wife died. I've tried to date since then, but for a number of reasons I haven't been able to really do it. I'm worried about my kids growing up without a mom, and I'm struggling with being a single parent, but haven't been able to work out the romantic part of whatever the rest of my life is.

So I heard about this site for people who are maybe looking for less traditional parenting relationships. I figured, I'd sign up and see what the deal is.
