I am a 36-year-old mother of two looking to complete her family by age 40 by having a third child. My son is sixteen and daughter is ten. I am separated from their father however we continue to coparent in a nice way with one another. The reason I am choosing to go the sperm-donation route is because my biological clock is ticking and after separating from my ex-husband, I have not yet found a partner with whom I can see myself having a long-term relationship with or co-parent another child with...so I am choosing to be proactive about my completing my family!
I am mixed-race Senegalese and Romanian (Jewish) and have decided to seek an ethnically Jewish sperm donor simply because I want to honor that part of my heritage and sort-of/partially make up for all the horrible things that have happened to Jewish people throughout history. It may sound crazy but when I hear my grandmother speak--at eighty-something years old and still with such pain in her voice--of things she remembers. I want to make a vow to the universe to bring another part-Jewish child into the world and make up for part of what was lost. Of course, as an educated woman, I know what I do will have very little impact but in my heart, I feel as though this is the right way for me so I want to go with my heart :-)
