My wife and I are looking to grow our family of 3, which includes my 8 year old step daughter and 3 fur babies. We are a lesbian couple living in Northern California. I grew up locally, am passionate about travel and enjoy adventuring as much as possible. I work in human rights work and also own a small business focused on women's economic development. My wife is from Guerrero, Mexico and has lived half her life in San Francisco. She's a chef working in SF but is also starting her own business. She recently got her US citizenship so we're traveling to Mexico as often as possible. We're both deeply connected to our culture and value celebrating all the beauty it brings to our lives. We're very grateful and giving people who love being in community.
Last year we tried IUI procedures but it got very expensive very fast. We made a couple attempts but unfortunately they didn't work. I was transitioning into a stressful job and was dealing with a lot emotionally and I imagine that affected my ability to get pregnant. After almost $10K spent, we stopped trying. We then tried to become foster parents to potentially adopt but the unpredictability of life happened. My brother in law became a single father so we stepped in to help raise my nephew for the last 8 months. Since my brother in law is living with us, we no longer have space in our house according to foster care and county regulations. There has been an unfortunate series of events that have stopped us from growing our family but I have all the faith in the world that the universe will bring us the exact opportunity we need to finally meet our baby.
In all transparency, we are not looking to coparent or have the donor in our baby's early life. If the person desires, it'd be great to leave the option to meet them open for when our little one starts asking questions and wants to meet their sperm donor. Hoping that the right person will reach out to us!
