I am exploring the idea of platonic co-parenting, and I am mostly interested in community and resources around this idea. I live in a rural area, and I don't know anyone else who has even explored intentional unconventional parenting. My partner of 10 years doesn't share my desire to parent especially genetically, but is supportive of me having a child, and is even excited to co-parent-- but doesn't want the responsibility of being a full-time parent. We are talking this over in therapy, and know it's a very unconventional arrangement, but we would both prefer to pursue this rather than break up. I likely have a friend who will be a sperm donor, who is also interested in co-parenting, but I checked that box too just in case his sperm counts are low, and at-home insemination doesn't work. Maybe this isn't the platform since I'm in still in the research phase, but I thought I'd try just in case there is community near me who is trying for an unconventional parenting arrangement too!
