I'm a software engineer at a big tech company. I'm married, but my wife emphatically doesn't want kids and is supportive of me finding someone to co-parent with.

Co-parenting appeals to me for a few reasons. It brings more adults into the kid's life, creates space for the parents to have adult time, and also makes it easier for the parent to focus completely on their kid when they have them.

I'm also open to other arrangements. I'd be happy to be a donor for a couple, and to have whatever level of involvement the couple would prefer. The idea of co-parenting with someone from a different background really appeals to me. My parents have passed away and I don't have much family - ideally I'd prefer to find someone with extended family for support, but that's not at all a requirement.

I think of having kids as our connection to the future. It's our contribution to the coming world, by making sure there are kind, resilient, empathetic people in it. Personally, I like having kids in my life because they keep me connected to what's new and interesting in the world.
