Him: Originally from New Hampshire but 20 years into Michigan residency. Has a PhD in Education Policy, works at U of M. Very nerdy in many ways. Enjoys long, rambly conversations, especially on meaningful topics. Extremely extroverted.
Her: Plays piano. Staff researcher at University of Michigan. Introvert but that vanishes with her inner circle; very playful sense of humor.
Us: Love to go hiking and (rustic) camping, to play board games with friends or just each other, our rescue dog(s), and to get as much time as we can with our 8 nieces and nephews. High emotional intelligence, good communicators, kind/thoughtful/gentle with each other. Family is extremely important to us; we live in Michigan rather than elsewhere because of the relatives (sibling; sibling/spouse/3 kids; 1 set of parents) who are here.
The model in America of raising a kid with almost no community seems...silly. We want to talk to people who might be interested in co-parenting (or other models of semi-radically collaborative child-raising) to better envision a future where our kid has more love and support around them.
